Alright, this is a bit late but what the hey, here's what I've seen in PC Fair!
Day 1:
Got there at about 10 a.m. Non exhibitors are not allowed in yet. Exhibitors are still getting their employees their proper Exhibitor's Pass. Among the large consumer electronics company that I see during that time was Canon, Acer, Samsung and a couple more (wish I had a camera when I was there). Briefing was about a lot of stuffs. What is there to give and also what is there to sell. That done, It's already 11 a.m. and it's time to let the public into the ballroom of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. PC Fair in Kuala Lumpur is expanding like mad! It used to be in PWTC and there has not been enough space. Been there a couple of times and did not like the packed enviroment. But anyhow, I love tech, and I'm doing it!
Went straight to Toshiba. The golden question "Is there any chance that Toshiba will get Blu-Ray DVD ROM on their notebooks", the reply "No idea". Wow, that was quick. So, that done. Toshiba brought thier line of notebooks for sale. Cheapest in the line RM1,999 with a Pentium Dual Core processor.
So, let's move on the EPSON! Big company. Great display of really cheap printers starting from RM150 to about RM300+. There were AIO (All in One) and Photo printers and much more. Epson also brought a few entry level projectors. Starting from RM1,500. Most has a 800 by 600 resolution. High Definition projectors starts from RM6,000. No show unit was around. But hey, PC Fair is about cheap products and affordability.
Moving on to FTEC. FTEC is a local OEM PC manufacturer. Been in the market for almost a decade. Not really well known through out the world. But they have sponsered a few local TV series trying to push the brand forward. I took a look at their latest notebook design. The look of it doesn't relly suit me, but might be for someone else. I think Malaysians should give FTEC a try. Tech savvy people will be able to cope with it as the bad reputation I heard from other FTEC users might be false. But the person that I'm talking to might be a marketing director or just a part timer for PC Fair. Who knows.
NEXT BOOTH! Machines! Me and Paul have mentioned machines in our podcast very early on when Paul is deciding to buy a MacBook or a MacBook Pro. So, the well known Apple Reseller is out and about today in PC Fair. I think the Mac cult is starting to catch up (3 years late) here in Malaysia. I got my hands on the MacBook AIR! FINALLY!!! To be honest, I like how thin it is, and I'm still amazed by how the engineers in Intel managed to shrink a processor die 30% (or did I get the number wrong) from a actual desktop processor die! But yet, when I tried it out, It's just not up to the speed that I'm expecting it to be. Still, great computer if you want to be on the go. Paul and I made a deal. If I ever get the MacBook Air, we'll trade notebooks for a week. I've got to wait and see. As I don't really have much money for a notebook right now. But I'll be interested in it. Kenny Low, the Enterprise Sales personel was kind enough to let me have a couple of minutes with the MacBook AIR. As I'm writing this. I'm still amazed on how thin it is and it is a great computer for those who are on the road.
Alright. There are more booths in the Ballroom but I didn't really pay attention to them. As I really need to get going and I need to buy some stuffs as well.
Will be back for more next week.

Apple's New iPhone?
Hey I don't make the rules... Apple does. I just woke up from my powernap (I like how it sounds) to find this image floating around the Internet. So far, images of apple products that have yet to be released have always been true. So I'm not discounting this one.
if this rumour is true then we'll see the iPhone drop the Silverish look for glossy black which really is nice. Also, the image tells us that the 8GB iPhone version will still be offered for purchase. How much? Beats me? Ok here, ogle at this image for as long as you want...
